Former Head Teacher Neil Metcalf Jailed for Fraud

Metcalf stole over £15,000 from two primary schools

by Amelia Crawford

A former head teacher has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for fraudulently taking over £15,000 from two primary schools where he worked.

Neil Metcalf, 51, of Jubilee Avenue, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position while serving at St Anthony of Padua RC Primary School and Our Lady’s Bishop Eton Primary School in Mossley Hill.

Initially denying the charges at Liverpool Magistrates Court, Metcalf changed his plea to guilty during a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court in July.

The court heard that he dishonestly abused his role at St Anthony of Padua, siphoning off £10,800 between September 7, 2017, and May 24, 2022. Additionally, he exploited his position at Our Lady’s Bishop Eton to gain another £4,690 for himself.
