The Criminal Investigation Division (CIB) of the Metropolitan Police arrested 47-year-old Suwadee in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district for impersonating a government official and committing multiple frauds. Her arrest came after a senator mentioned her during a parliamentary session on August 20, triggering an investigation.
Suwadee, who often wore all-white outfits mimicking a politician, attended parliamentary sessions while falsely claiming affiliations with high-profile figures like former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. She also presented herself as the adopted daughter of former army chief Anupong Paojinda and a relative of Deputy PM Anutin Charnvirakul.
On October 6, CIB officers raided her rented residence in Lat Krabang, where they arrested her. Suwadee has been linked to 14 different fraud charges, with items used in her schemes, such as fake political ID cards, uniforms with official logos, and her grey Toyota Camry, seized during the operation.
Her fraudulent activities started modestly but escalated into larger schemes, including construction scams and a fraudulent investment plan involving a card known as Bat Lung Tu Plus (Uncle Tu card). Despite the serious charges, Suwadee denies the allegations, stating she has resolved 13 out of 14 fraud cases and is only battling the Bat Lung Tu Plus case in court. She explained her photos in parliamentary attire as part of her political aspirations.
When arrested, officers noticed she was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, often a sign of a previous criminal record. Suwadee dismissed it, claiming she wore it “just for fun.”
Authorities have yet to disclose the full list of charges against her.
