Christopher Winters Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Hopkinsville

Traffic stop leads to pursuit, drug charges for Clarksville man

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (KBSI) — A traffic stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard escalated into a high-speed chase and the arrest of a Clarksville man on multiple charges, including drug trafficking.

Police report that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 27, officers stopped a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Christopher Winters for a traffic infraction. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected the strong odor of marijuana.

Winters fled the scene, driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph, prompting a police pursuit. During the chase, Winters was seen throwing bags of narcotics from his vehicle.

The pursuit ended when Winters lost control of his car near McLean Avenue and East 9th Street, where he was taken into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 19 grams of cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $25,000 in cash.

Winters now faces several charges, including failure to signal, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, trafficking in controlled substances, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and tampering with physical evidence.
