Chandmari Police Arrest Cyber Criminal Abdul Rashid Ahmed in Major Fraud Case

Ahmed Arrested for Role in Cyber Fraud Scheme Targeting Victims with Fake Helpline Numbers

by Ananya Mehta

Chandmari Police have arrested Abdul Rashid Ahmed, a suspected cyber criminal, from Nunmati Nijapar in a significant breakthrough against cyber fraud in the region.

During the operation, police seized numerous ATM cards, bank accounts linked to multiple banks, and several account opening forms. Authorities believe Ahmed is connected to a larger cyber-criminal network that targets unsuspecting victims.

Investigations revealed that the group often works with cyber criminals from outside the state. The police also uncovered a fraudulent tactic used by the gang, where they leave fake helpline numbers at ATM kiosks to deceive victims. Using these numbers, the criminals allegedly stole lakhs of rupees from people across the region.

The police are now focusing on identifying other members of the cyber ring and tracing their operations. In the meantime, they have urged the public to stay cautious and report any suspicious financial activity to help curb this growing issue.
