Huey Galmiche, Ex-LSP Sergeant, Arrested for Theft

Former officer caught shoplifting while on duty

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A former sergeant with the Louisiana State Police, Huey Galmiche, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in “skip-scanning” while on duty in Covington.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the 50-year-old was taken into custody by detectives from the property crimes division on Wednesday, October 2. He was apprehended while wearing his state police uniform.

Galmiche has been booked at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center and is facing charges of misdemeanor theft and malfeasance in office.

“Upon learning of the ongoing investigation, Sgt. Galmiche was immediately placed on administrative leave, and all his law enforcement property was recovered by Troop L supervisors,” said Colonel Robert Hodges, state police superintendent. “Sgt. Huey Galmiche resigned his position with Louisiana State Police effective today.”
