A man from Bristol, Shawn Rodriguez, was arrested early Wednesday morning on multiple gun and drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a stolen firearm and marijuana. At approximately 12:30 a.m., Bristol police were conducting motor vehicle enforcement near Pine Street when they observed a violation and stopped Rodriguez.
During the stop, officers noticed an improperly stored firearm in Rodriguez’s vehicle. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the firearm had been stolen. In addition to the weapon, police found ammunition, a large capacity magazine, and packaged marijuana intended for sale.
Rodriguez is now facing several charges, including:
Stealing a Firearm
Improper storage of a pistol/revolver
Illegal possession of a high capacity magazine
Carrying a pistol without a permit
Possession of a controlled substance
Failure to display lights
Rodriguez has posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29.
