Two men have been jailed after smuggling cocaine into Pembrokeshire to be sold by a drug addict. Police intercepted Leslie Thomas, 65, driving Adam Idris, 42, on the A477 through Milton on July 31. Inside Thomas’ Mercedes, officers discovered 13.6 grams of cocaine, worth up to £1,700, hidden underneath a seat. A handwritten note with Jessie Thompson’s address was also found, leading officers to her home the next day.
At Thompson’s residence, the police found her intoxicated and incoherent due to drugs. They uncovered several drug-related items, including a crack pipe, snap bags, and scales with traces of cocaine. Checks revealed that Thomas’ car had made multiple trips between Swansea and Milford Haven in July, while Idris’ phone contained numerous drug-related messages and calls to Thompson.
Idris initially claimed he was visiting family, while Thomas said he was simply driving Idris to work. However, both men were involved in drug trafficking. Thompson, a known drug addict with significant debts, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Idris, of Langdon Road, Swansea, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and being concerned in cocaine supply. Thomas, of George Street, Neath, admitted possession with intent to supply, stating he knew Idris was delivering drugs but did not know the specifics. He claimed he was paid in cash or drugs for driving.
Thompson, of Steynton, admitted her role in drug supply and possession of cocaine. Idris, already recalled to prison, was sentenced to four years and two months. Thomas received two years and five months, while Thompson was handed a 20-month sentence, suspended for two years, along with 150 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
