In a series of successful operations across Jammu and Kashmir, police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized significant quantities of contraband substances in Baramulla, Budgam, and Handwara.
In Baramulla, a police team at a checkpoint set up at Chak Limber, Boniyar, intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Ghulam Nabi Dar, a resident of Babagail Limber. Upon searching, the police recovered 50 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.
In Budgam, the police stopped a Maruti 800 vehicle at a checkpoint near Higher Secondary School Chadoora. The vehicle was driven by Sajad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Gopalsaif Dedmaribagh Chadoora. A subsequent search led to the discovery of 1.7 kilograms of charas-like narcotics, which were seized, along with the vehicle involved in the crime.
Meanwhile, in Handwara, at a checkpoint established at Chotipora, the police apprehended Khalid Bashir Lone, a resident of Kahipora Kralgund. A personal search revealed 100.46 grams of charas-like substances in his possession.
All three accused have been arrested, and cases under the relevant sections of law have been registered in their respective police stations. Investigations are ongoing. The police have appealed to the public to report any drug-related activity and have reassured the community that they will continue to act decisively against those involved in drug trafficking.
