Jamira Loper, 28, Arrested for Macing Victims in Stanton Grocery Store Incident

Woman Charged with Felony Assault After Macing Five People in Parking Lot

WILMINGTON, DE – Jamira Loper, 28, of Wilmington, has been arrested and charged with felony assault after she allegedly maced five individuals in the parking lot of a grocery store in Stanton on January 18, 2025.

At approximately 2:57 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to ShopRite located at 1600 West Newport Pike in Wilmington following reports of an assault. Upon arriving, officers learned that Loper, while driving through the parking lot, sprayed the victims with mace. The five victims, whose identities have not been disclosed, were all affected by the chemical spray. Two adults and a teenager were taken to a hospital by ambulance for injuries sustained to their face and neck, while two other victims, an adult and a child, were treated at the scene by EMS.

Loper fled the scene after the attack, but after further investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant. She turned herself in to Troop 2 on January 20, 2025 and was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. Loper was released on a $27,500 unsecured bond.
