Bard charged with stealing $31,000 from elderly couple's bank account

WATERVILLE, NY — Joseph M. Bard, 38, of Waterville, New York, has been arrested on charges of grand larceny following an investigation into financial theft from an elderly couple. Bard allegedly conducted over 100 unauthorized transactions over the course of several months, transferring approximately $31,000 from the couple’s bank account into his own.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation that led to Bard’s arrest. He was located at a residence in Waterville, processed at the Otsego County Correctional Facility, and is awaiting arraignment in Otsego Town Court.

This case highlights the growing concerns of financial exploitation and theft, particularly involving vulnerable populations like elderly individuals. Authorities are continuing to investigate and pursue justice for the victims.
