Pitt County, NC — An 18-year-old from Ayden, Armoni Whitfield, has been arrested for the murder of 28-year-old Jhari Henderson.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of November 22 at around 10 p.m. when a police officer was flagged down in the Walmart parking lot in Greenville. Upon checking a car, the officer discovered Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite EMS efforts to save Henderson’s life, he was pronounced dead shortly after. Investigations revealed that Whitfield was the one responsible for the shooting.
Authorities believe the incident was targeted, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Whitfield was apprehended by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and has been charged with murder.
She is currently held at the Pitt County Detention Center on a $2 million bond. The investigation is still in progress.
