Trenton Brown, a 29-year-old man from Burlington, Iowa, was arrested three times in one weekend following multiple incidents involving criminal behavior. He faces charges ranging from threatening officers to theft and drug offenses.
The first incident occurred on January 9 at around 12:19 a.m., when police responded to a report of a man wearing clown makeup, believed to be under the influence of narcotics. Officers found Brown near the intersection of Division and S. 9th streets. When approached, he threatened officers, saying he would kill them, and fled the scene. After a brief struggle, officers detained Brown, during which they discovered a glass meth pipe in his possession. He was charged with interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia, pleading guilty and paying a $355 fine.
On January 11, around 4:30 p.m., Burlington police responded to a report of Brown attempting to break into a building on Central Avenue and Washington Street. When officers found him, he ran, resisted arrest, and fought with police. Brown later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that day, explaining he ran because he was “scared.” He was fined $250 after pleading guilty to the charges.
The following day, on January 12 at 10:50 a.m., Brown was caught stealing torches from Dollar General. He had been previously barred from the store. Store employees recognized him and reported the theft. Brown later admitted to the crime and was arrested for theft and trespassing. He is currently being held at the Des Moines County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
