ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A teacher in Tennessee has been arrested after authorities discovered cocaine in her classroom.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Department reports that Mia King, a sixth-grade English teacher at Cheatham County Middle School, is facing charges after deputies found two baggies of cocaine in her open purse, which was stored in a closet next to her desk. The search also revealed a scooping object and a rolled-up $5 bill with white powdery residue.
Authorities stated that King was being held by a school resource officer in the principal’s office and appeared to show signs of being under the influence of narcotics. After being informed of the discovery, King reportedly began crying and requested an attorney.
King, who has been an English teacher at the school since 2023, is now facing drug possession charges as a result of the incident.
