In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Delhi Police seized a massive consignment of marijuana worth several crores after intercepting a truck in Swaroop Nagar. The hemp was being transported from Odisha and was intended for distribution among students and young professionals in the capital, sources say.

According to DCP (Outer-North) Nidhin Valsan, around 787 kg of marijuana was cleverly concealed in a stack of corn bags. The truck was intercepted in the Nangli Poona locality of Swaroop Nagar, and Mohammed Jabir (40) was arrested. Police suspect Jabir has connections with other individuals in an interstate drug syndicate, and further investigation is underway.

The police team, which had been gathering intelligence and activating informers, was alerted to the movement of the consignment on November 2. A raiding party led by SHO Alok Kumar Rajan and ACP Arvind Sagar swiftly took action and intercepted the truck bearing registration number UP15HT 84.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the broader drug network that the traffickers are a part of.
