SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Two men were arrested in Sumter County on January 13 for drug trafficking after deputies discovered illegal substances during a traffic checkpoint.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Randolph Leron Lemon and 25-year-old Marquell Ikeem Stevens were taken into custody after deputies conducted a safety license checkpoint at the intersection of Pack Road and Marley Court.
During the stop, deputies found crack cocaine, cocaine, and fentanyl inside the vehicle both men were in. Additionally, they learned that Stevens’ driver’s license had been suspended, marking his fourth offense, and he was classified as a habitual offender. He was also arrested for driving under suspension.
Both Lemon and Stevens now face charges of trafficking fentanyl, trafficking cocaine, and distributing, selling, purchasing, or manufacturing crack cocaine.
The two men were transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, where they are currently awaiting a bond hearing.
