MANILA – A Chinese national, Huang Sen, is set to be deported from the Philippines for his involvement in illegal gambling activities. Huang, 38, was arrested on January 9 after he was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City. His name had appeared in the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) derogatory system.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado confirmed that Huang is being deported for being an undesirable alien and will be placed on the country’s blacklist to prevent him from re-entering. The arrest follows a red notice issued by Interpol Beijing on December 4, 2024, at the request of the Chinese government.

Huang’s alleged crimes date back to August 27, 2024, when a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Luojiang District in Deyang, China. Huang is accused of orchestrating an international online gambling syndicate. Chinese authorities have identified him as the head of the syndicate’s betting operations, which reportedly employed over 70,000 people to manage the gambling sites.

The operation attracted more than 1 million customers from China and around the world, who placed bets totaling over 700 billion yuan (approximately $95 billion). The gambling syndicate is said to have generated around 2 billion yuan ($272 million) in illicit profits.

Huang Sen is currently in custody at the BI detention facility in Taguig City while awaiting his deportation process. The Bureau of Immigration has emphasized that the Philippines does not serve as a refuge for criminals wanted in other countries.

The Philippines continues to collaborate with international law enforcement to track and deport individuals involved in illegal activities, especially those involved in large-scale gambling operations that affect millions globally.
