Faisal Taghi Extradited to Netherlands for Drug, Money Laundering Crimes

Son of Europe’s Notorious Crime Lord Ridouan Taghi Faces Justice

by Amelia Crawford

Faisal Taghi, the 24-year-old son of one of Europe’s most notorious crime figures, has been extradited from Dubai to the Netherlands. His arrest, which occurred in September of the previous year, was the result of an international operation involving Dubai Police, Interpol, and Dutch authorities. Faisal Taghi is accused of leading the “Angels of Death” crime syndicate and is charged with money laundering, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

Faisal’s father, Ridouan Taghi, 46, is a notorious figure in Europe and was arrested in Dubai in 2019. Ridouan was linked to multiple murders and a major cocaine trafficking operation between the Netherlands and Antwerp, earning him a spot among Europe’s most-wanted criminals. He was sentenced to life in prison for his role in a deadly drugs turf war in the Netherlands.

Faisal’s capture follows an international investigation, and Dubai Police worked closely with authorities in the Netherlands to apprehend him. Last week, Faisal Taghi was officially handed over to Dutch law enforcement, following a request from the Dutch authorities. This extradition was praised by both parties, with the Dutch Prime Minister, Dick Schoof, expressing gratitude to Dubai for its efforts in tackling organized crime and reinforcing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Faisal’s father, Ridouan, is serving a life sentence in the Netherlands after being convicted of ordering at least 13 murders between 2015 and 2017, targeting those suspected of being informants to the police. The Taghi family’s crime empire was heavily involved in international drug smuggling operations, and Dutch authorities had offered a €100,000 reward for information leading to Ridouan’s arrest before his capture.
