A Hialeah man, identified as 43-year-old Jose Ivan Mairena, is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and child abuse following a stabbing incident on Wednesday morning. The charges stem from an attack on his partner that occurred while a 10-year-old child was present in the home, witnessing the horrific event.

The domestic violence incident took place at 4295 West 11th Place around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday. According to police, the 35-year-old victim called 911 after a heated altercation with Mairena. Fleeing with her child, she left the suspect inside the home, later being rushed to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found Mairena inside the home with apparent self-inflicted wounds. He was taken into custody and also transported to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center. He remains hospitalized and in police custody, facing serious charges.

As of Thursday, Mairena remains under medical care while awaiting further legal proceedings.
