A 23-year-old man was arrested in Hialeah on Thursday after allegedly shooting another man over suspicions of infidelity. Hansel Diaz-Lezcano faces charges of attempted premeditated murder and armed robbery with assault or battery, according to a report from the Hialeah Police Department.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when Diaz-Lezcano arrived at the victim’s residence around 8 p.m. to confront him about a suspected romantic involvement with his girlfriend.

Authorities say Diaz-Lezcano had been watching the victim’s movements and chose the moment when he was near the property to confront him. Armed with a handgun and crowbar, Diaz-Lezcano approached the victim.

Following a brief interaction, Diaz-Lezcano chased the victim, firing two shots in his direction. The victim was able to retreat to the rear of the house, where he quickly secured an iron gate to prevent further confrontation.

Law enforcement found two shell casings at the scene, and surveillance footage captured the entire incident. Diaz-Lezcano is alleged to have committed the crime with the intent to take the victim’s life and to unlawfully gain access to the property for a criminal purpose.

Diaz-Lezcano remains in custody as the investigation continues.
