Kendra Licari Back in Jail After Bond Violation in Catfishing Case

Isabella County mother faces charges for stalking and obstruction

by Amelia Crawford

The Isabella County mother accused of catfishing her daughter and another teenager is back in jail after violating the conditions of her bond.

Kendra Licari of Beal City was arrested Thursday after a judge ruled she had breached her release conditions. Licari faces five charges in connection with the alleged catfishing, including:

Two counts of stalking a minor
Two counts of using a computer to commit a crime
One count of obstructing justice
In December, Licari was granted a $5,000 bond with the stipulation that she avoid all contact with her teenage daughter. However, the prosecution discovered that she had been in contact with her daughter, leading to a motion to revoke her bond. The judge approved the request, issuing a warrant for Licari’s arrest.

Licari was taken into custody and is now awaiting hearings for contempt of court. According to Isabella County Prosecutor David Barberi, Licari admitted to sending her daughter and her friends over 40,000 anonymous, demeaning text messages over the course of about a year.

Licari’s case is scheduled for a settlement conference on March 22, with her trial set for April 24 in Isabella County Circuit Court.
