In a significant operation, Delhi Police have arrested 10 individuals linked to a major fraud network involving investment scams, misuse of credit cards, and theft. The arrests were made in a series of operations across different areas in Delhi, officials reported on Monday.
The police action started after a complaint was filed on December 10, when a man reported a financial loss of Rs 59,000 after he joined a social media group promising lucrative returns. During the investigation, police traced the money to an account in Agra, which led them to arrest Yogesh Kushwah, a key suspect. Upon interrogation, Kushwah implicated his neighbor in the scam, prompting further arrests.
On December 14, two more cases of fraudulent credit card activities were reported, resulting in the arrest of Rohit Tanwar, Vineet, Roshan, Arjun, and Sunny. The suspects were accused of defrauding multiple victims by misusing their credit card details.
The following day, on December 15, police arrested Deepak, Rakesh Sehrawat, and Lucky for allegedly stealing Rs 90,000 from an ATM using fraudulent methods. The trio had used sophisticated techniques to manipulate ATM machines and access victims’ bank details.
In yet another operation, Amit Mehta was arrested for cheating people by offering to redeem credit card points, a scam that deceived many individuals into sharing sensitive financial information.
The police have seized 10 mobile phones that were used to facilitate these crimes. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover more individuals involved in the fraudulent network.
