In a successful operation on Monday, the Udaipur unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two officials from the Water Resources Department for accepting a bribe. The arrested individuals, Ganpat Sharma, Executive Engineer, and Gajendra Singh Rajput, Additional Administrative Officer, were caught while taking a bribe of Rs40,000 from a complainant.
According to Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrra, Director General of ACB, the arrest followed a complaint stating that the accused officials had demanded a bribe of Rs90,000 in exchange for issuing a work order related to a tender awarded to the complainant’s firm. The complainant had already paid Rs10,000 before the operation.
Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Rajendra Prasad Goyal and Inspector Dr. Sonu Shekhawat, the complaint was verified, and a trap was set. During the operation, the accused were apprehended while accepting Rs40,000 — Rs20,000 in real currency and Rs20,000 in dummy currency.
The ACB has registered the case and further investigation is underway under the guidance of Additional Director General Smita Srivastava.
