Kershaw Man Hurley Braddy Sentenced for 2022 Murder
KERSHAW, S.C. (WBTV) – Hurley Dean Braddy, 43, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of Christy Rozier in December 2022. Braddy pleaded guilty on December 18, 2024, to the killing of Rozier, which occurred in a home where his five children were present.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, four of Braddy’s children, ranging in age from 1 to 16 years old, fled the home after witnessing the shooting. They ran to a nearby house and reported that Braddy had shot Rozier. Deputies arriving at the scene found a 1-year-old sitting in a highchair in the kitchen, but thankfully, none of the children were physically injured.
The plea deal was arranged to spare the children from having to testify in court, offering some relief amidst the traumatic situation. Braddy’s conviction ensures he will serve 30 years behind bars for his actions.
