CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A suspect has been arrested and charged with the shooting death of a 42-year-old woman in Charlotte. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 43-year-old Ebonee Makeesa Rahman was taken into custody on Saturday, December 14.
The investigation led to Rahman’s arrest, and she was transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning. Following the interview with detectives, Rahman was transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The incident occurred on Friday, December 13, when police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on Archdale Drive around 10 a.m. Officers arrived to find Lashunda Shmicka McLendon, 42, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her, McLendon was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather details surrounding the tragic shooting.
