A 59-year-old man has been arrested following a police raid in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, as part of an ongoing investigation into cryptocurrency investment scams. The raid took place on December 23 at an address in St Hilary’s Park, Alderley Edge, following a briefing at Cheshire Police headquarters.

Officers from the Cyber Crime and Economic Crime Units executed the warrant as part of a wider investigation into suspected fraud involving cryptocurrency investments. During the raid, a number of items, including a computer and mobile phone, were seized.

The man was arrested on suspicion of fraud, money laundering, and theft of a motor vehicle. He remains in police custody while the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant David MacFarlane emphasized the seriousness with which Cheshire Police are addressing fraud offences, stating, “This operation demonstrates our commitment to identifying individuals who exploit others in such scams and sends a clear message to those involved in similar crimes.”

The investigation is ongoing, and police aim to reassure the public and warn anyone considering committing such offences.
