In a major drug bust on Monday, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Pallikaranai seized over 155 kg of ganja from three suspected drug peddlers across two separate locations. The operation was carried out by the Pallikaranai Prohibition Enforcement Wing, which had been actively monitoring drug trafficking activities in the area.
Following a tip-off, the police team intercepted a goods carrier near Railway Ground in East Tambaram, where they discovered 150 kg of ganja concealed inside the vehicle. The authorities arrested R. Muthuvel Pandi (37) of Mukkani and U. Chandra Kumar (34) of Palayakayal, Thoothukudi district, during the raid.
In addition to the ganja, the police confiscated the goods carrier and two mobile phones from the suspects. Upon interrogation, the arrested men confessed that they had acquired the ganja from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and were transporting it for distribution in Tamil Nadu.
This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Tamil Nadu Police to combat the growing issue of drug trafficking in the region. The Prohibition Enforcement Wing continues its vigilance, ensuring that those involved in the illegal drug trade face justice. Investigations into the network behind the drug supply are still ongoing.
