In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Dhubri police intercepted a substantial consignment of contraband drugs on December 22, 2024. The police operation, conducted in Dumardoha Part II along NH-17, led to the arrest of two individuals with a large quantity of illicit substances.
The police seized 112 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride syrup, 59 strips of Pyeevon Spas Plus tablets, and 18 strips of Nitcor-10 tablets. The arrested suspects, 25-year-old Sahinur Alom from Jhagrarpar Part I and 35-year-old Moklesur Rahman Prodhani from Bhatigaon, are both residents of Dhubri district.
Initial investigations revealed that the drugs were smuggled into Assam from West Bengal, and the accused were responsible for transporting and distributing the illegal consignment.
The police have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the origin and distribution network behind this drug operation and are working to identify additional individuals involved. Authorities have emphasized the importance of community cooperation in curbing drug trafficking and keeping the region safe.
