James Kennedy Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges Following Altercation at Holiday Party
Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy found himself in legal trouble earlier this week, arrested for misdemeanour domestic battery after an alleged incident involving an unnamed woman. According to multiple reports, Burbank Police responded to a call on Tuesday night regarding an argument between Kennedy, 32, and a woman, whose identity has not been revealed. The altercation took place at a home, and Kennedy and his girlfriend Ally Lewber had been at a holiday party hosted by Kathy Hilton earlier that evening.
After being arrested, Kennedy was released on $20K bail. However, his Burbank Police Daily Arrest Log entry, obtained by TMZ, indicated that the alleged victim referred to Kennedy as her boyfriend. She reportedly accused the reality TV star of lifting her up and throwing her to the ground.
In response to the arrest, Jamie Lynn, a friend of the Vanderpump Rules cast, took to social media to provide new details about the case. She shared the arrest log entry on her Instagram Stories, which stated that an officer found Kennedy and the woman inside the residence. According to RadarOnline.com, Lynn rejected claims that the incident was merely a misunderstanding, emphasizing the severity of the accusations.
Kennedy’s legal team later issued a statement through US media outlets such as PEOPLE and TMZ, asserting that they are conducting their own investigation into the charges. “We understand that there were no injuries, and we hope the city’s attorneys will decide not to pursue formal charges after a careful review,” the statement read.
While it remains unclear whether Ally Lewber is the woman involved in the incident, a source told PEOPLE that the couple appeared distant during Kathy Hilton’s holiday gathering. The insider mentioned that Kennedy behaved erratically, running to the bar and bumping into others throughout the evening. They described him as appearing intoxicated, and said he spent much of the night alone, showing irritability when interacting with others.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates on the case are expected.
