In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Kodaje Mohammed Sherif, a key accused in the 2022 murder case of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Praveen Nettaru, on Friday in New Delhi.
Sherif, a State executive member of the now banned Popular Front of India (PFI), had been absconding for some time, with a lookout circular issued against him. The NIA arrested him at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, where he had just arrived from Bahrain.
Sherif’s arrest is a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the brutal murder of Praveen Nettaru, a BJP worker who was killed in Karnataka in 2022. The murder had sparked widespread protests and led to intense scrutiny of extremist elements associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI).
With the arrest of Sherif, authorities are hoping to uncover further details about the conspiracy and the individuals involved in planning and executing the murder.
