Ahmedabad Police Arrest Man with Rs3.60 Crore Worth of Hybrid Cannabis

Yogesh Dashadiya arrested near Vatva toll booth with 12 kg of drugs

In a significant drug bust, Yogesh Dashadiya, a resident of Morbi, was arrested by Ahmedabad police near the Vatva toll booth on Sardar Patel Ring Road with 12 kilograms of hybrid cannabis worth an estimated Rs3.60 crore.

The arrest came after the Vatva police received an intelligence tip-off regarding a young man who would be traveling with a large quantity of drugs. Police Inspector PB Zala and24 parcels wrapped in plastic, which were later confirmed to contain the illegal drugs.

During the preliminary investigation, Dashadiya revealed that a woman named Sayli, whom he met through an online platform, had arranged the drug smuggling operation. Sayli befriended Dashadiya and offered himRs₹70,000 to carry a parcel from Bangkok to Gujarat. She also booked two flight tickets — one for Dashadiya and another for a man named Pritam , from Nashik .

Dashadiya and Pritam flew from Ahmedabad to Bangkok on December 14, where they stayed in Pattaya. On December 16, they flew back to Mumbai, but their paths diverged. While Pritam went to Kolhapur, Dashadiya continued his journey to Ahmedabad, carrying two bags containing the drugs.

Dashadiya further disclosed that after arriving in Mumbai, a woman named Nidhi contacted him and instructed him to get in touch with her once he reached Gujarat, so she could guide him on the delivery of the drugs. However, before the delivery could take place, he was apprehended by the police in Ahmedabad.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) P G Jadeja stated that Pritam, the co-accused, had previously been involved in smuggling large drug shipments from Bangkok to India. Investigations are still ongoing, with Dashadiya being further questioned to uncover more details about the international drug trafficking ring.
