In a major drug bust in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, police uncovered a clandestine drug manufacturing operation at Sri Yadadri Life Sciences Chemical Factory in Ramajipet village. Law enforcement agencies seized 120 kg of the banned drug ephedrine, valued at Rs 24 crore. The drugs were intended to be transported to Mumbai. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the operation.
Despite the factory being sealed by the Pollution Control Board months ago, authorities discovered that it had been operating illegally, producing the banned drug in bulk. The raid was the result of intelligence gathered about a drug delivery scheduled near the Bibinagar toll plaza.
Deputy Commissioner of Police for Yadadri Bhongir zone, M. Rajesh, stated that special teams from the Yadadri-Bhongir police, along with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), intercepted two Hyundai Verna cars. These vehicles were found carrying 100 kg of ephedrine. Based on the information from those apprehended, the police raided the Sri Yadadri Life Sciences Chemical Factory and discovered an additional 15 kg of the drug, as well as manufacturing equipment.
The operation began when N. Krishna Reddy, a realtor, was approached by Ismail of Jeedimetla, who proposed manufacturing banned substances. Reddy then contacted the factory owner, Vasudeva Chary, who enlisted the help of Satyanarayana, an experienced chemist, to produce the ephedrine. All individuals involved were promised large commissions for their participation.
The police arrested three individuals in connection with the racket:
