Nathan Mahoney, 32, was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly stabbing Erik Denslow, the president of Anderson Express Inc., during a staff meeting in Michigan. The stabbing occurred when Mahoney attacked Denslow “in the side with a knife” before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Police quickly apprehended Mahoney 15 minutes later.
Denslow, who has served as president of Anderson Express for less than two years, is in critical condition but is expected to survive, according to authorities. The company, which works within the automotive and defense industries, expressed their shock over the incident and is focusing on supporting employees during this difficult time.
Local police have yet to confirm a motive for the attack, but Deputy Chief Greg Poulson noted the possibility of the attack being a copycat act, following the recent assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Investigators are reviewing Mahoney’s social media accounts and electronic media to determine his motives.
Mahoney, described by co-workers as having a “quiet demeanor,” was arrested shortly after the stabbing, and authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
