ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Two women, Katherine Silas, 23, and Samanta Villalba, 27, were arrested in Los Angeles, California, in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Adam Morres in Albuquerque. The two women are charged with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence following the shooting death of Morres on August 22, 2024.

According to Albuquerque Police, officers responded to the scene at 516 Hermosa Dr., SE, at 6:30 a.m. on the morning of the shooting. Morres was found in the driver’s seat of a silver Toyota, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Homicide detectives believe that Silas and Villalba were acquainted with Morres and were allegedly upset with him for betraying them. The investigation also revealed that the two women had been previously indicted in January 2024 in Arizona for drug trafficking charges.

The women’s arrests in Los Angeles came after months of investigation into Morres’ murder, and they are now awaiting extradition to New Mexico.
