A 26-year-old man, Mahesh Kumar Mukhiya, has been arrested by the Hyderabad city police for the murder of 65-year-old Sneha Latha Devi, a resident of Domalguda, Hyderabad. The crime took place earlier this year on January 31, 2024. Mahesh, who worked as a house help for the victim, planned and executed the murder in a bid to rob her of jewellery, cash, and other valuables.
According to police reports, Mahesh, originally from Bihar, had been employed at the victim’s house for some time. Over the course of his employment, he became familiar with the daily routines of the family. On the day of the incident, after the family members had left for work, Mahesh tied Sneha Latha Devi to a sofa, gagged her, and killed her with the help of an accomplice who had traveled from Bihar to assist in the crime.
Following the murder, the duo robbed the house, making off with valuable items, including cash and jewellery. The Domalguda police immediately began investigating the case and formed a special team to track down the assailants. After an extensive investigation, Mahesh was arrested, while efforts to apprehend his accomplice are still ongoing.
The authorities have expressed their commitment to bringing the second suspect to justice.
