The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Surat Police has continued its aggressive crackdown on drug trafficking, with a major seizure of MD drugs worth Rs20 lakh. In a series of operations, the police have successfully apprehended multiple suspects and recovered significant quantities of illegal narcotics.
On Thursday, Surat Police arrested 22-year-old Tokir alias Tosif Hanif Shaikh in the Udhna Darwaja area after a brief chase. Shaikh was found in possession of 197 grams of MD drugs, adding to the growing list of narcotic seizures in the region. Police were on routine patrol when they noticed Shaikh fleeing upon seeing the officers. Following a swift chase, the youth was apprehended, and the drugs were confiscated.
In a related operation, another 12 grams of MD drugs were seized from the home of a suspect in the Lalgate area, further illustrating the city’s ongoing struggle with narcotic distribution.
The Surat Police have been intensifying efforts to curb the drug trade, and the recent series of arrests marks a significant milestone in their operations. The city’s Crime Branch has been at the forefront of these initiatives, with numerous cases being registered under anti-drug laws.
