Bryan Kim Bullard, 43, of San Diego, pleaded guilty today to distributing fentanyl that caused the death of a 25-year-old Carlsbad woman, identified as D.G. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of California, Bullard’s actions on September 9, 2023, led to the fatal overdose.
The plea agreement revealed that co-defendant Cameron William Fulston, 29, contacted the victim via Facebook Messenger before she traveled to a San Diego apartment complex where Bullard sold her fentanyl. Later that night, Fulston was seen leaving the building, and Bullard messaged him asking for “Narcan” in an apparent attempt to address the overdose. Despite calling 911 using D.G.’s phone, Bullard had already left by the time emergency responders arrived.
The victim was transported to the hospital but was removed from life support five days later. Officers found drug paraphernalia and fentanyl pills in the apartment. Following his arrest in November 2023, Bullard admitted to possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine at the time.
U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath stated, “Instead of immediately calling 911 at the first sign of overdose, the defendant’s delay sealed D.G.’s fate,” emphasizing the continuing battle against the fentanyl crisis.
