British Drug Trafficker Christopher Neil Arrested in Colombia

Suspected British drug dealer linked to Clan del Golfo cartel

by Amelia Crawford

Colombian authorities have arrested Christopher Neil, a suspected British drug trafficker accused of coordinating cocaine shipments from Colombia to the United Kingdom for the notorious Clan del Golfo cartel. Neil, described as “invisible” due to his low-profile lifestyle, was apprehended on Thursday in Medellin, following an operation by local police and Interpol.

Neil, who had reportedly been living in Colombia since December 2018, was arrested after a surveillance operation involving a car moving through the city. The authorities linked his arrest to a multimillion-dollar drug transaction between Colombia and the UK, which helped pinpoint his location.

Colombian officials coined the term “invisible drug traffickers” to describe individuals like Neil, who blend into ordinary society and avoid the flashy behavior typically associated with drug cartels in the 1980s and 1990s. Neil now faces charges in the UK for drug trafficking and money laundering.

It remains unclear if Neil has legal representation at this time.
