In a shocking case of police misconduct, two Kolkata Police officials have been arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from a taxi driver. The arrested officers, Kaushik Ghosh and Mohammad Montil, were both attached to the detective department of the Kolkata Police.
The incident occurred on August 29 near the Mahakaran area in Kolkata, when the two officers allegedly threatened the taxi driver with a false drugs case. They reportedly demanded the sum of Rs 4 lakh from the driver, threatening to implicate him in a fabricated case if he did not comply with their demands.
Following a complaint lodged by the taxi driver, authorities swiftly acted, leading to the arrest of the two officers.
