IPOH, July 16 — A 26-year-old lance corporal, who has been remanded in connection with the murder investigation of 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, is now a key suspect in the case. Perak police chief Commissioner Datuk Azizi Mat Aris confirmed the identity of the suspect, who is attached to the Slim River police station.
Azizi stated, “I can confirm that the individual remanded for this case is a police personnel who has been serving for about five years.”
Initial reports described the suspect as a 26-year-old civil servant and Nur Farah Kartini’s boyfriend. The suspect has been remanded for seven days as investigations into her suspected murder continue. The case is being handled under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries a death sentence upon conviction.
According to the Malay news outlet Kosmo! Online, the suspect was arrested at the Gedangsa Police Station in Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor.
Nur Farah Kartini, a 25-year-old woman from Miri, Sarawak, was reported missing on July 11 after delivering a rental car to a customer at Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim, Perak. She was last seen wearing a blue jeans Muslimah corporate outfit, a headscarf, and black pants.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed on the following day that Nur Farah’s body was found in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, at around 6 p.m. The investigation into her tragic death continues.
