by Sophia Bennett

WINDSOR, ON — The Windsor Police Service (WPS) has issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old China Jade Lam of Markham in connection to an ongoing bank fraud investigation. Lam is facing multiple charges, including fraud over $5,000, obtaining false pretenses over $5,000, using a forged document, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Lam is described as an Asian woman with a slender build, long dark hair, and brown eyes. Police believe she is involved in a fraudulent scheme in which two suspects artificially inflated a bank account by depositing a fake cheque. The balance from this fraudulent deposit was then withdrawn through ATM withdrawals and account transfers.

The fraudulent transactions took place between January 31 and February 5 of this year, resulting in a total loss of more than $64,000.

Elias Ethan Miazad, 42, of Ancaster, Ont., was also involved in the case and was arrested on October 21 in Niagara Falls by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Anyone with information on Lam’s whereabouts or the investigation is urged to contact the WPS Financial Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330.
