In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police arrested four individuals involved in drug trafficking and seized heroin worth Rs 1 crore. The accused were identified as Roshan Lal (42), Dharambir (40), Rohit Gusain (30), and Dushyant Chopra (34).
The arrests followed a series of intelligence-led operations targeting drug trafficking activities in the region. According to DCP (Crime) Bhisham Singh, the arrests were made after a tip-off led the police to conduct a raid in Rohini Sector 23. Lal and his brother Dharambir were intercepted while attempting to deliver heroin near an apartment complex. A search of their scooter resulted in the recovery of 310 grams of high-grade heroin.
Further investigations revealed that Roshan Lal was the key figure in the heroin distribution network, actively procuring and supplying the drug to consumers and other traffickers. Lal, a habitual offender, has a criminal history with five cases registered under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and the Excise Act.
The investigation also led to the arrest of Rohit Gusain, a repeat offender with a history of theft and snatching cases. Gusain admitted to sourcing heroin and smack from Lal for both personal use and resale to another trafficker, Dushyant Chopra.
Chopra, who was arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, is known for his extravagant lifestyle and love for designer clothing. He reportedly funded his lifestyle through proceeds from drug sales. Chopra has eight prior criminal cases, including robbery, snatching, and abduction.
Delhi Police have expressed confidence that the arrests will help dismantle a significant portion of the drug trafficking network. Authorities continue to investigate the broader network to identify other individuals involved in this illegal operation.
