OPELIKA, Ala. — A fatal shooting at an apartment complex in Opelika has left one woman dead and a suspect in custody.

Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 10:50 a.m. on March 25 to the 500 block of Fox Run Parkway. Upon arrival at Arbor Place Apartments, police, fire, and EMS personnel found 38-year-old Alisa Shaquita Andrell Patton inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.

Despite attempts to revive her, Patton was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m. by Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton.

Authorities have arrested 27-year-old Marc John Love, also of Opelika, in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with murder.

Investigators say the case remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

As a precaution, four Opelika City Schools were placed on lockdown shortly after the call was received. The lockdowns were lifted once officials confirmed the suspect had been taken into custody and there was no further threat.

Patton’s body will be transported to ADFS Montgomery Medical for a postmortem examination.
