The Delhi Police have busted a fake medicine manufacturing unit in Gaya, marking the second such operation in the past week, and arrested Arun, a key member of an interstate drug syndicate.
Arun, 59, was running the illegal unit without qualified chemists. Police have now apprehended a total of nine members linked to the cartel.
Authorities recovered a massive quantity of counterfeit drugs, raw materials, and heavy machinery used for large-scale production. Confiscated items include:
1.19 lakh spurious Zinc tablets
Over 42,000 fake Azithromycin tablets
27 kg of paracetamol powder
444 fake ampoules of Dilona Aqua
Tablet manufacturing equipment
Police stated that Arun processed over 5 kg of smuggled tramadol powder, valued at more than Rs 5 crore in the international market, into tablets. These were sold through bogus medical fronts at inflated prices, often marketed as painkillers or substitutes for heroin.
The operation followed the interrogation of another accused, Tanishq, arrested last week. This crackdown comes shortly after a similar fake medicine factory was discovered in Patna.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to trace remaining members of the cartel and dismantle the interstate drug network.
