Three criminal convictions in Cayuga County have been upheld by a New York state appellate court, according to District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.
The Appellate Division, Fourth Department, affirmed the rulings in three separate cases, reinforcing earlier trial court decisions.
One case involved Taj J. Williams, who pleaded guilty to second-degree assault after attacking a correction officer at Auburn Correctional Facility. He received a sentence of five years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
In another case, Adrian Rojas was convicted of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Authorities recovered a kilogram of fentanyl during a traffic stop conducted by State Police. Rojas was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
The third case involved Dana Grimes, who pleaded guilty to criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance tied to cocaine distribution in Auburn. Grimes was sentenced to 11 years in prison, followed by post-release supervision, and ordered to pay $400 in restitution.
The district attorney’s office said the appellate rulings ensure the convictions and sentences in all three cases will stand.
