A man has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for a string of burglaries targeting restaurants in the City of London, along with using stolen bank cards.
John O’Brian, 28, from Slough, was found guilty of breaking into establishments in Leadenhall Market and Gracechurch Street, stealing both personal and financial items. These stolen items were later used fraudulently by O’Brian.
Criminal Behaviour Order Imposed
Along with the prison sentence, O’Brian was also issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), preventing him from entering the City of London for five years. The CBO aims to deter him from committing further crimes in the area and safeguard local businesses.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for the City of London Police commented, “This sentence highlights the significant impact of burglary on both businesses and individuals. John O’Brian’s actions not only caused financial loss but also violated the privacy of those affected. The Criminal Behaviour Order ensures he will not be able to repeat his offences in the City for the foreseeable future.”
Impact on the Community
Leadenhall Market and Gracechurch Street are lively commercial areas in the City of London, home to numerous restaurants and small businesses. The crimes disrupted both staff and customers, and the local community is urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
