The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has busted a seven-member gang, including a police constable, allegedly involved in an international cybercrime network operating from Sathirakudi village and Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district.

The group is accused of converting nearly Rs100 crore obtained through cyber fraud into cryptocurrency and transferring the funds to offshore syndicates.

Investigators identified one of the key accused as Pradeep (35), a police constable in the 12th Battalion at Manimuthar in Tirunelveli district. Police said he will be questioned further to determine his role in the network and how he acquired the technical expertise to carry out these operations.

Following revelations of his alleged involvement, Pradeep has been placed under suspension. Preliminary inquiries indicated that the network had been operating for over a year, targeting victims domestically and transferring proceeds abroad using cryptocurrency channels.
