Police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting his brother in west Birmingham over the weekend.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded Saturday night, March 7, to the 1700 block of McMillion Avenue after receiving a report about a mentally disturbed person in the area.
When officers arrived, their investigation led them to a nearby residence where they discovered Stanley Arnold Collier, 64, of Birmingham, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Authorities said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, March 9, police announced the arrest of Fredrick Collier, 61. Investigators later confirmed that the victim and the suspect were brothers.
Police said Fredrick Collier was taken into custody on Saturday and has been charged with murder. He is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
