The former Deputy Director for Procurement and Logistics at the Kalashnikov Concern has been charged with fraud on a particularly large scale and is being held in a pre-trial detention center in Moscow.
Authorities say the case involves a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, allegedly committed by an organized group during the supply of protective equipment under a state contract for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
In February 2026, a colleague of the defendant, Ksenia Gerashchenko, former director for procurement and logistics at the Kalashnikov Concern, was arrested. She faces charges of abuse of power under Article 201.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and is also held in a Moscow pre-trial detention center.
Preliminary investigations indicate that fraud occurred during the execution of a state defense order. An internal audit revealed that in 2023, the Kalashnikov Concern signed 10 contracts with a single contractor. Although the contracts were due to be completed by October 2023, the obligations were never fulfilled.
Authorities warn that the state may have suffered damage “on a particularly large scale” due to the misappropriation of subsidies from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
This case highlights ongoing scrutiny of state defense procurement and internal compliance at major Russian defense enterprises.
