Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly committing unnatural acts with his minor nephew in the Dokati area, officials said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Shashi Singh, allegedly lured his 12-year-old nephew to his residence on March 5, where the incident reportedly took place.
According to Mohammad Faheem Quraishi, Circle Officer of Bairia, a case was registered after the minor’s father filed a complaint with the police. Authorities subsequently booked the accused under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Following the complaint, police launched a search operation and arrested Singh near Semriya Dhala on Sunday.
Officials confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and further investigation into the case is underway. Authorities have reiterated that strict legal action will be taken in crimes involving minors.
