The West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested two Bangladeshi nationals, Rahul alias Faisal Karum Masud and Alamgir Hossain, near the Bongaon border for their alleged involvement in the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, a noted activist in Bangladesh.
According to the STF, the suspects fled Bangladesh after committing murder and extortion. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted them while they attempted to sneak back into Bangladesh via Bongaon.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the duo admitted to murdering Hadi, an act carried out after entering India through the Meghalaya border. A formal case has been registered, and the accused have been remanded in police custody as further investigations continue.
